About the Position
The Instrument Sales Specialist will be responsible for strategically driving revenue growth opportunities, market development activities, and cultivating customer relationships with key industry opinion leaders in the Greater Boston territory. The Instrument Sales Specialist will execute the critical business functions of identifying, developing, and growing the company’s key customer base – Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Government, and Academic Research Institutions in the regional market. The Instrument Sales Specialist will be responsible for managing existing accounts, the identification and growth of client specific opportunities, the development and execution of sales strategies, and deploying customer-centric plans to manage and accelerate the sales cycle. The Instrument Sales Specialist will consult with clients on their science and offer solutions to help support their research goals. Through working collaboratively with FAS and Technical Specialist teams, the Instrument Sales Specialist will coordinate and help lead instrument demos with clients.
About the Job Requirements
- 3+ years of technical sales experience in the Life Sciences
- Technical background with cell growth-based equipment, cell analysis, plate readers, real-time imaging, flow cytometry, etc.
- Capital equipment sales experience with instrument demos
- Established network and client portfolio across the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, academic, and CRO market segments within the defined territory
- Strong experience in account management, new business development, prospecting, contracts and supply agreements, customer relations, and strategic and tactile sales
- Able to speak fluently about the biological sciences and techniques used for assay development and cell biology research to consult with customers on their research
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic and desire to succeed
- Works well with others in a matrixed sales environment
- Technical degree in Biology or related scientific field. BS is required, and MS or PhD is preferred
- Previous experience working as a Scientist or Researcher is preferred
- Home-office based with up to 25% field travel is required
